Why the Trilogy? The short answer is that an episode of Tom Thompson’s art is summarised here in three of his paintings. Like many painters before him, this artist has explored his art through a wide range of interests: murals in public buildings, portraits, drawings and posters in galleries and private collections as well as figure paintings, historical and religious. In this book, the latter conform essentially to the Australian genre.
